Henry Ahlfeld

Henry Ahlfeld is a senior at Burr and Burton Academy. He is in his second year of cinematography class. He is a Cross Country captain as well as being a captain of the Scholar's Bowl team, of which he has a particularly integral role as well as a lot of interest and passion. Henry is also a BBA Ambassador, a Freshman Mentor, and a member of National Honors Society, where he does tutoring, which has mainly been for freshman taking physics class. He is also an on again off again member of GLOW, with consistent commitment to the principles but inconsistent schedule availability.

Henry loves science, particularly chemistry and physics. In the past Henry worked with Quarknet to analyze data on muons from the Large Hadron Collider. He is currently working on building four cosmic ray detectors, which may be the subjects of a future feature. He also goes to astronomy club, and is often out stargazing at night.

Henry succeeds well academically, which shouldn't be credited to particular intelligence but rather great interest, as Henry believes anyone can be intelligent with enough interest in a particular subject. Henry puts a lot of effort into school, as well as reading and learning in his spare time.

In terms of movies, Henry is a fan of blockbusters and action, and sees movies as a form of entertainment. His favorite movies are Heat (1995), John Wick (2014), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), but thinks the finest film ever made was Amadeus (1984). Henry is pretty well rounded in cinema experience, and has seen hundreds of movies, with a choice few having been seen dozens of times (Gangs of New York, The Departed, The Dark Knight Rises). His favorite director by far is Christopher Nolan, with the closest follow ups being Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick.

Besides movies, Henry is a big fan of comics, especially Captain America, Batman, and Daredevil. He finds it very annoying that the closest comic book store is in Saratoga.

Henry either wants to be a teacher or a film maker, a pair of choices that make finding the perfect college rather difficult.
